Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
