Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
